A nice feature would be to have a support for train cameras. Here is an example of a Loco control with camera from the Märklin 60128 software.
Additionaly it would be nice the have normal board camera monitor for checking if everything is right in not good accessable places. The types of cameras that would need to be supported:
- IP Cameras
- connected PC Cameras
- Capture Cards
- Proprieretery stuff
There are a lot of diffrent lococameras used today. As example:
What type of UI for cameras would be wanted?
- Window with all camera streams
- Camera test window
- Loco control with camera
- Big tile showing an camera on the layout
I polished the build i made here. it curently supports:
Most local cameras and capture cards conected to the server.
MJPEG
HLS
RTSP
RTMP
Depending on the protocol there are different settings available. Like setting the resolution, quality and framerate of MJPEG streams that support it.
For streams that dont support this the framerate can be capped to a desired value and the stream axis can be flipped.
Local cameras get captured by the server and streamed via mjpeg to the client other ip cams are directly captured by the client because the naturally will be in the same network as the server. The local camera option also forwards options like the resolution and brightness to the local camera hardware.
There is also the Camera widget that displays a wall of all cameras running

can also be opened throug Objects–>Hardware–>Cameras(list)–>Camera Settings
If any stream in the Camera Wall is clicked on then it spawns a standalone viewing Window
I plan to use this for further features down the way like controling camera locs and other that might be helpfull.
